Download Wenyin

First install: the DMG is all you need

   Download the .dmg

   Click "Download DMG" above. Do not download the ZIP — that one is for in-app automatic updates.

   Open the disk image

   Double-click the downloaded file; a window appears with the "Wenyin" and "Applications" icons.

   Drag it into Applications

   Drag "Wenyin" into the Applications folder, then you can eject the disk image.

   Allow it in System Settings on first launch

   Wenyin has not been notarized by Apple. If the first launch says the developer cannot be verified, open System Settings › Privacy & Security and click "Open Anyway" below; after that, double-clicking works normally.

If "Open Anyway" does not appear in step 4: in Applications, hold Control and click the Wenyin icon, choose "Open", and confirm once more.

DMG vs. ZIP

.dmg — for people to install

A disk image installer. Use it for the first install and for manual upgrades: open it and drag Wenyin into Applications. This is the file the download page always shows.

.zip — for the app itself

The packaged app itself, with an update signature. It is used by "Check for Updates" inside the Wenyin app to download and replace the app automatically, and it can also be unzipped and swapped in manually. Everyday installation does not need it.

Both files come from the same build and contain the same app with identical features; they differ only in how they are installed and whether they carry an update signature.

Downloading the installer requires an internet connection; processing documents does not. "Check for Updates" in the app connects to the network.

Disk

The app itself takes about 200 MB; imported document copies use local disk space according to their original file size.

Updates

Wenyin uses in-app updates: after opening the app, check for updates from the menu and a new version will be downloaded and swapped in; you do not need to download the installer again. You can also come back to this page at any time and install the latest DMG over the current version; your library and settings are not deleted.

Public beta versions are pre-releases with frequent updates. For version changes, see the public release notes.

About downloads

This website does not collect download statistics and sets no tracking cookies. The installer is hosted on a public GitHub repository; when you visit that repository, GitHub records access logs under its own policy, and we cannot read the raw records of those logs. For the installer's version, size, and checksums, the release page is authoritative.
